How to prepare for a lifestyle product photography shoot

Make a brief

Make your lifestyle photography brief by outlining the intended use of the images required.  Think about the message you would your brand would like to convey in the imagery.  Include a description or example image of the style you would like to achieve, Pinterest is a great research tool for this.  If you are listing on websites such as Not on the high street and ESTY they have some helpful image guidelines available to view here NOTHS and here ETSY.

In your brief include the image proportions you require, square landscape or portrait.  Keywords can also be embedded to aid search engines finding your product, make a list of these to use.

Request a quote

Email me with your brief to request a quote.  If you have any questions for me just ask, I'm happy to help.

Liaise with me on the prop selection for your shoot. I have a selection of house props available to help accessorise your set.

Purchase any additional required props, allow time for their delivery ahead of the shoot.

The image copyright is retained by me and you receive a licence to use the images as required.

Be sure to read the quotes terms and conditions.

Book a date for your shoot

A 50% deposit is required to secure your shoot date.

Securely deliver your products to me in advance of the actual shoot date, or bring them along if you are attending the shoot.

Choose products that are in perfect condition for the best results eg. clearly printed labels. Small products may be represented larger than life size, so it's important to carefully package your products to reduce any scratching or damage during transit.

Image naming is very important in helping your product be searchable online.  To make the best use of this feature create a word or excel document with the name of each of your products.  Use lowercase letters and -hyphens instead of spaces in-between words for the best results.
